NOMA Block Heater Timer Instructions
Most NOMA timers are either a dial with movable tabs or a digital screen with Program buttons. Pick the version that looks like yours and follow the short setup below.
Mechanical dial timer
- 1. Turn the dial in the arrow direction until the current time meets the marker.
- 2. Push or pull the tabs for the hours you want power; use the legend printed on your timer.
- 3. Set a window ending at departure time—usually three to four hours.
- 4. Move the override switch to Timer, Auto or the clock symbol.
- 5. Plug the timer into a GFCI outlet, then connect the block heater.
Digital timer
- 1. Press Reset with a pen tip if the display or old program is confusing.
- 2. Set the current day and time with Clock plus Day/Hour/Minute.
- 3. Press Program and set ON for three to four hours before departure.
- 4. Press Program again and set OFF for departure time.
- 5. Return the display to Auto, then test once with the manual override.

These examples use a 3½-hour window. In less severe cold, two to three hours may be enough; in deep cold, use up to four.

Which direction do I turn a NOMA mechanical timer?
Follow the arrow printed on the dial, normally clockwise. Rotate until the current time lines up with the fixed marker; do not force the dial backward.
Why is my NOMA digital timer blank?
Confirm the outlet works, then leave the timer plugged in long enough to charge any internal backup cell. Press the recessed reset button and re-enter the current time and program.
What does the override switch do?
It bypasses or changes the programmed state. For normal scheduled operation, return the switch or on-screen mode to Timer or Auto after testing.
