Portable equipment heat
Magnetic Heaters for Tractors & Equipment
Where a 200 W or 300 W magnetic heater fits on tractors, skid steers and hydraulic equipment—and when to use a coolant heater instead.

The short answer
A practical supplemental or backup heater for steel oil pans, transmission cases and hydraulic reservoirs. For a large diesel that must start every day, use the correct coolant heater as the primary system.
Check before buying
Test the intended oil pan, transmission pan or hydraulic tank itself. Choose a broad, flat area where the full heater face makes contact.
A simple four-step setup
Choose which fluid needs heat most.
Clean and dry the steel contact area.
Attach the heater fully flat and protect the cord.
Remove it during the walk-around before starting.
Good fit
- ✓ Compact tractors
- ✓ Skid steers and loaders
- ✓ Hydraulic reservoirs
- ✓ Backup heat when a factory element fails
Choose something else when…
- — Daily starting is mission-critical
- — The diesel is too large for surface heat alone
- — The pan is cast aluminum
- — No flat protected mounting point exists
What size should you buy?
Rule of thumb: 200 W for small engines; 300 W for larger engines and equipment.
Best placement: A flat steel oil pan, transmission pan or hydraulic reservoir with the cord protected from tires, linkages and hot components.
Magnetic heaters to compare
Start with the 200 W model for cars and small engines. Move up only when the equipment and heater manufacturer support the larger size.

Quick questions
Is 200 W enough for a tractor?
It can help a compact tractor or warm a specific sump. Larger diesels usually benefit from a 300 W magnetic heater or, preferably, a properly fitted 1,000–1,500 W coolant heater.
Can it warm hydraulic fluid?
Yes, when the reservoir is steel and the heater is approved for that use. Surface contact and tank size determine how much difference it makes.
Vehicles with a permanent heater already catalogued
A magnet is the fallback. If your engine has a frost plug, the fitment page lists the element and cordset that belong in it.
