Toyota Corolla Cross Block Heater Guide
2022–2026
Find the part for your engine
Check the engine size on your vehicle documents or under-hood label. Choose it explicitly even when only one option appears.
Already have a factory heater? A missing power cord may be all you need. Match the connector before ordering.
View the full engine and installation tableFor the Toyota Corolla Cross, we have not established an aftermarket heater for the listed engines. Ask a Toyota dealer or installer to identify any existing heater and confirm a VIN-specific part before ordering. Installation requirements depend on the engine and equipment.

Toyota Corolla Cross engines & block heater part numbers
Engine list built from Natural Resources Canada model-year data. Part numbers are catalog candidates unless a source review is shown for that application. Confirm the exact engine code, model year and installation port before ordering; an Amazon listing match does not confirm vehicle fitment.
| Engine | Years | Zerostart kit | Cord | Kat's heater | Install location |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2L 4-cyl Confirm gasoline versus hybrid even though both are 2.0L. Dealer listings mention PK5A4-89J14, but that number also appears in Transport Canada’s block-heater recall 2021-723. This does not mean every Corolla Cross is affected. Ask Toyota to confirm the current kit, required cables and recall status by VIN before ordering; no exact Amazon kit is verified here. Manufacturer source | 2022–2026 | No aftermarket listing — use the genuine Toyota dealer kit | |||
Reading the numbers: Zerostart 31/35- is the heater kit, 36- the detachable cordset ("lit" glows when the outlet is live). Kat's 11xxx is an element, 28xxx a cordset, 24xxx a pad. Location codes are the manufacturer's (LF = left front of block).

What it costs to plug in a Toyota Corolla Cross — and what it saves
No supplier lists a wattage for every Corolla Cross element, so this uses the 600 W figure typical of this body style. Natural Resources Canada recommends a timer that runs the heater two hours before you drive rather than all night — that is what the numbers below assume.
| Province | ¢/kWh | Cost per 2 h plug-in | Full winter (120 nights) | Net per day |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Quebec | 7.0 | $0.08 | $10.08 | +$0.18 |
| Manitoba | 10.2 | $0.12 | $14.69 | +$0.14 |
| Ontario (avg TOU) | 12.8 | $0.15 | $18.43 | +$0.11 |
| Alberta | 14.0 | $0.17 | $20.16 | +$0.10 |
| Saskatchewan | 15.5 | $0.19 | $22.32 | +$0.08 |
| Nova Scotia | 17.9 | $0.21 | $25.78 | +$0.05 |
Natural Resources Canada rates the Toyota Corolla Cross at 8.5 L/100 km in city driving (median across 1995–2026 model years). On a 20 km winter commute that is about 1.7 L a day. NRCan measured that at −20 °C a block heater improves overall fuel economy by as much as 10% — roughly 0.17 L, or $0.26 of gasoline at $1.55/L. On a single short trip at −25 °C the saving can reach 25%. In most provinces the electricity costs less than the fuel it saves; in the priciest it roughly breaks even, and you still get the wear, defrost and cabin-heat benefits.

Block heater recalls on the Toyota Corolla Cross
Transport Canada has recorded a recall on the Corolla Cross that involves the block heater or its cord. Check your VIN before you buy parts — if your vehicle is affected, the repair is free.
Issue: This recall is for certain block heater kits installed on certain vehicles or sold as accessories at Toyota or Lexus dealerships. On certain vehicles, the engine block heater cable may not have enough heat protection and could be damaged by high temperatures. If this happens, the cable could short circuit while plugged in, and cause the wiring to overheat or melt. Note: This recall only affects the following block heater/cord part numbers: C014003034 PK5A408J09 PU14000904 C014003151 PK5A408J13 PU14000905 C014000885 PK5A489J11 PU14000907 C014000888 PK5A489J22 PU14000909 C014000907 PK5A410H00 PU14000911 C014100904 PU14000900 PU14000913 C014100907 PU14000901 PU14003571 C014100911 PU14000902 PK5A489J14 PK5A408J05 PU14000903 Safety Risk: Engine block heater wiring that overheats or melts could create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: Toyota recommends that you should stop using the engine block heater immediately. Toyota will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to disable the engine block heater. For some vehicles, the corrective actions for this recall are under development. For others, a new engine block heater cannot be installed, and the owner will receive a refund of the purchase price of the engine block heater.

No tools? The stick-on option
If you'd rather skip the install entirely, a magnetic heater grips any flat steel surface — oil pan, block, transmission pan — and moves between vehicles. Check that the Corolla Cross's oil pan is steel first: a magnet won't hold on aluminum or composite pans.

First: check whether you already have one
Canadian-market vehicles are often fitted at the port or dealer and then forgotten by the next owner, so check the cord location above before you buy anything. If a cord is there, test it — a dead element and a dead cord look identical from the outside.
If you need one installed
Budget $40–$120 CAD for the part plus about an hour of labour, and book in October — Prairie shop calendars fill after the first cold snap.
